The Himalaya Store is the initiative of Louis-Pierre Tessier, meditation teacher for the Paramita Center of Tibetan Buddhism in Quebec.

 

One of Louis-Pierre's teachers, Geshe Sangpo, a Tibetan Buddhist monk and scholar of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, told him that many Tibetans exiled in India cannot afford the medical care they need.

 

Sensitive to the Tibetan cause, Louis-Pierre decided to donate 50% of the profits of the store to Tibetans whose needs are the most urgent in order to help them cover the costs of the medical care they need.
